Plank smoked salmon with vegetable packet (en papillotte)
"Salmon on a Shelf" is one of the very easiest ways to put an unimaginably delicious dish on the table. In which, in this case, the emphasis is not only on tasty, but also on how to serve it. After all, you present the salmon with the plank on which the fish was cooked. Salmon in itself is a widely appreciated fish, but this method of preparation adds another flavor element, namely the smoke aroma given off by the plank. You definitely won't need many seasonings, but the board makes it easy to cook additional ingredients with it. Actually, with "planking," you need to do very little more than keep an eye on the cooking time. That one is not very long, so that makes it completely attractive. The combination of salmon with cedar is an unsurpassed classic, but nothing prevents you from using the boards for other types of fish or chicken as well. Wood for barbecue boards other than cedar does exist, but it is less readily available.
